Upper Academy Distance Learning
The Gary Lighthouse Upper Academy campus is currently closed due to the Coronavirus pandemic. At this time, scholars are engaging in distance learning.
Welcome back to the 2020-2021 school year! We are thrilled that you are joining us this year and are allowing us to provide your scholar with the best education possible. We have been working hard on creating a plan that is just right for your scholar whether you choose a 5-day in person instruction or virtual through eLearning. We have learned a lot over the past few months and ready to make this year the best that it can possibly be.
A Message From Our Principal
Gary Lighthouse Upper Academy Families,
At the start of the academic year, scholars, parents, and staff members at Gary Lighthouse Upper Academy were looking forward to a new school year ahead. The COVID -19 Pandemic swept across the world and in a matter of months forced us all to take measures to keep us safe. Distance Learning is not a choice; it is now a necessity. Distance learning is not a downgrade from the education you aspire to have for your children. It is a show of resilience and triumph against adversity. It is confirmation to the fact that we believe to our core, in the basic right of every child to receive a quality education.
The Governor of Indiana announced that all Indiana schools are closed for the year. As a result of this decision, we will move towards E Learning. In order to do so, ALL students need to be connected to the learning. A notification was sent to every family regarding technology needs. All students will be required to participate in E Learning. If you do not have a device to do E learning, please call the office to schedule an appointment for pick up.
Our dedicated staff, while struggling with the same challenges as your families, are fully committed to your scholars in the continuation of learning.
Thank you for your continued support.
Mrs. Charlotte Jackson, GLUA Principal
