A Message From The Principal

Greetings Parents & Scholars,

I hope that everyone is well and staying safe. I want to take this opportunity to assure everyone that during this time, my staff and I will work hard to continue supporting scholars academically while working from home via Google Classroom. This can be a frustrating time for everyone but I want everyone to know that we here at LCPA are just an email and/or phone call away. The entire LCPA staff will be active online daily, ready to respond to inquiries and concerns within 24 hours. As information regarding school comes in from the state of Indiana, I will make sure to communicate important information through multiple avenues to ensure everyone has clarity and understand how LCPA will support scholars and families from a distance. Staff and scholars will be engaging in virtual distance learning via Google Classroom to ensure learning continues through the final quarter of the 2019 – 2020 school year. During distance learning, scholars will have the opportunity to strengthen their independent learner skills as well as their ability to self-manage. I ask for your cooperation and flexibility in advance as we work through our new “normal.” I thank you in advance for your trust that as your principal I will always have the best interest of your scholar at the forefront of my decision making. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out.

In partnership,

Dr. Akima J. Anderson

Overview of 9 – 12 Distance Learning

All students in grades 9 through 12 are responsible for completing assignments posted on Google Classroom by all of their teachers. Teachers will post assignments for Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays. For Tuesdays & Thursdays, teachers will post enrichment activities students can engage in that are connected and relevant to content. We are a credit bearing institution; therefore, all classes students were enrolled in prior to our Distance Learning period, are the same classes they are responsible for completing assignments in via Google Classroom. Assignments will be graded and scores will be uploaded in PowerSchool to be transferred to students’ transcripts at the end of Semester 2.

For more details on the Distant Learning Plan for LCPA, please visit the following document: LCPA Distance Learning Instructional Plan

For general inquiries, the school’s office hours during Distance Learning is 219-977-9583 between the hours of 10:00 am – 2:00 pm. Please allow 24 to 48 hours of response time as we may be experiencing high call volume. Everyone’s inquiry is important and we would like to provide equity and equality in our response efforts.

For a list of staff emails, please refer to LCPA Staff Email List.

Student Attendance

Student attendance will be based upon two factors: 1) student engagement and completion of assignments on Google Classroom, and 2) student activeness in Google Classroom a minimum of once a week. Scholars will need to complete a minimum of 2 assignments in classes each week and a minimum of 1 assignment in advisory in order to earn full attendance credit for the week.
